Trust Administration

Our team is well-equipped to handle all aspects of trust administration. We guide our clients through the entire process with expert knowledge and experience.

Trust law, tax legislation and the associated reporting requirements can be a complex area for the lay trustee to navigate. Trustees have statutory responsibilities and professional guidance is often needed, whether it be on an ongoing basis, or from time to time as and when the circumstances arise.

Our specialists assist trustees and beneficiaries in a number of areas, such as:

  • Managing all aspects of the administration of a trust or assisting with bespoke tasks such as preparing annual tax returns and registering trusts.
  • Preparing trust tax accounts.
  • Providing advice on the responsibilities of trustees.
  • Acting as professional trustee where required.

Our decades of experience in creating, managing and winding up trusts enables us to provide our clients with first-class, specialist advice.

In Practice

  • The G family estate has been held by the family for over 175 years

The G family estate has been held by the family for over 175 years passing by marriage from another family who had owned it for the prior 200 to 300 years.

There are multiple trusts for family members comprised by will and during their lifetimes, which own various agricultural properties, residential properties, holiday lets, woodland and sporting rights. Annual Trust Accounts and Tax papers are prepared for the 8 related trusts, which range from settled land, life interests, grandchildren’s settlements, protective trusts and discretionary trusts.

Some of the beneficiaries are dual nationals and the trust team report their interests or deemed interests via the Automatic Exchange of Information channels, also liaising with their foreign intermediaries.
